Chapter 158 Domineering Host
Helen Wilson investigated Gina Lopez’s information the next day and indeed found out she had a twin sister, Emily Lopez, who closely resembled Gina. If one only looked at their IDs, it would be impossible to tell who was who.
This completely dispelled Helen’s suspicions about James Brown, but for some reason, she still felt annoyed whenever she looked at him. The bastard was so good at fighting, and he had tangled with her for so long that day. If that wasn’t taking advantage of her, what was? But that alone did not constitute a crime, and even if it did, she couldn’t arrest James Brown just for that; it would be too embarrassing for her.
However, Helen dropped her thoughts about James Brown soon after, as she was secretly working on a big case. The case was widely connected and had powerful backers. Without sufficient evidence, she couldn’t do anything to the suspects, so she continued to gather evidence against them.
Even when working on this, she didn’t inform her colleagues, operating secretly on her own. The reason was simple: her promotion to deputy chief was thanks to that Mysterious Figure, which made her uneasy. She was now pursuing a big case on her own to prove to everyone in the Public Security System that she was competent—not just relying on the Mysterious Figure.
While Helen was busy, James Brown was also busy on his side. He was supposed to have a date with Melody Yoody the previous night, but she had to attend a banquet after receiving an unexpected call, and their date had to be canceled.
During the day, James Brown was busy with company matters alongside Gina Lopez and Sunny Nguyen. Gina had brought out a draft for the formation of the company the previous night, and Sunny had made an extensive financial plan. The redness in their eyes showed they had not slept much, yet their spirits were incredibly high, showing no signs of fatigue.
"James Brown, it’s your job to call in the people from JYPP Region who are interested in joining our company," said Gina Lopez, assigning him a task quite directly. In fact, she didn’t really treat James Brown as the president, so when she ordered him to do something, it felt effortless.
James Brown agreed cheerfully. Compared to other tasks, he felt more at ease with this one.
Returning to the president’s office, James Brown immediately called Sarah Utah.
"Big Brother Brown, have you sorted out the company’s issues?" Sarah Utah asked urgently as soon as she spoke.
James Brown chuckled, "Yes, everything is settled. I’m calling to ask if you can start work immediately."
