Chapter 124: Street Racing
"Are you going to get lost or not? If you don’t, I’ll stop playing nice," James Brown furrowed his brow. He didn’t want to entangle with such spoiled young masters. He wouldn’t care if a hundred more like them came, but the people they could bring out were more troublesome. It would be different if it were just James himself, but now he was with Emily Lopez. Most importantly, if Gina Lopez found out they had fought, she would definitely blame him.
James’s imposing aura scared the four youngsters into dropping a few tough lines before they ran out of the restaurant.
James tossed 70 dollars to the owner and then pulled Emily along as he walked out.
Following James out without saying much, Emily finally spoke up after getting into his car, "Brother-in-law, we better hurry up and go. Those guys don’t seem like an easy bunch; if they find more people to come after us, it’ll be problematic."
"You were quite fierce just now, why are you scared all of a sudden?" James said with a laugh as he drove out of the lot.
Emily turned to look at James with a smile and replied, "If they were just some little hoodlums, I wouldn’t care, but if they get the police involved and have me arrested, that would be a real hassle."
"You sure do know a lot."
"I’m not a child, how could I not understand these things? Those rich and powerful people love to bully, and the police stations, the Public Security Bureau—they all take their side. If we got arrested, even if my sister bailed us out in the end, we’d still suffer."
James laughed and said, "Well, then we’d better make a run for it."
The two set off towards the city center along the highway, but they had driven for less than five minutes when a Ferrari and a Porsche quickly caught up from behind, their powerful engines emitting a piercing roar as they closed in rapidly.
"This is bad, brother-in-law, they’re catching up," Emily exclaimed, startled and twisting her body to look back.
