"Yeah, I remember! You threw me your silly prenup!" Aurora chuckled, shaking her head as she recalled that day.
Suddenly, Alex’s expression became stiff as memories of that day flooded back.
"Oh, Rory, I’m truly sorry..." Alex says, gently holding her hands, feeling awful about that day. "Did you feel sad when I did that?"
"Absolutely. I cursed you countless times." Aurora smiled at his smirk. "Honestly, I’m glad because returning to you and meeting your parents felt like a heavy burden back then. The contract you proposed was a relief for me."
Although Alex was disappointed to hear her words, he couldn’t blame her.
At that time, he didn’t realize she was actually Aurora Moon. He disliked her because she had the same name as Rory. That’s why he was very cold to her back then.
"I feel really awful now. But, Rory, you understand why I did that, don’t you?" he explained earnestly. "I’m only planning two years with her because her father asked me to keep her safe from his family and ensure she has a stable life before we part ways."
"You are terrible, Alex!" she teased, but Alex felt even more upset with himself, knowing he had hurt her that day.
"I agree, I was a terrible man. That was in the past, yes. But now? Absolutely not... I’ve already promised you this is my final marriage, Rory... I will never get a divorce; even if you plead with me, I will not agree!" Alex stated earnestly.
"I’ll keep that in mind, Alex!"
Alex doesn’t say a word, but he gently pulls her into his arms, holding her close for a while.
