Born Into Villain's Family: I Have a 200\% Rebate System

Chapter 671: Sarcastic Jules

Aurora looked directly into Mary’s eyes.

"Let’s save the person whose life is in immediate danger first... and then help the person who can still continue living."

Mary fell silent. Although worry still lingered inside her heart, her resistance had weakened considerably.

After taking a long, trembling breath, she finally nodded. "All right... I agree."

Standing nearby, Adam quietly let out a sigh of relief that he had been holding in for what felt like hours.

Unable to hide his happiness, he walked over and gently hugged Mary.

With a smile, he teased, "Now that’s my wife. Gentle, kind, and reasonable."

He couldn’t help but continue,

"Why do you always end up opposing Adeline? I keep telling you that you misunderstand her. You’re like this with Adeline, and now you’re becoming like this with Aurora too."

Mary lowered her head. After a long silence, she sighed softly.

"I honestly don’t understand it myself."

Her brows knitted together.

"Sometimes... it feels like I’m not even in control of my own thoughts."

The moment those words reached Aurora’s ears, her entire expression froze.

A dangerous thought flashed through her mind.

Without another word, she suddenly stepped closer and gently placed her fingers against several points on Mary’s head, carefully feeling around as if searching for something.

Mary frowned in confusion. "Aurora... what are you doing?"

Aurora slowly withdrew her hand before looking at her mother with an unusually grim expression.

"Mother... if you trust me, could you please get an MRI scan of your brain?"

Mary’s brows immediately furrowed. "Why?"

Aurora answered in a low, serious voice.

"I suspect that some of your negative emotions might be caused by a brain tumor."

She paused briefly before adding, "It’s actually more common than people think."

In reality, Aurora was speaking complete nonsense.

’A tumor isn’t what I’m worried about.’

Her eyes narrowed dangerously.

’Someone has already implanted a chip inside Mother’s brain. That’s the only explanation.’

The instant Mary heard the word ’tumor’, her face turned pale. Without any hesitation, she nodded.

"All right... I’ll get it checked."

The very next day, Mary underwent an MRI scan.

As Aurora carefully examined the images, her pupils shrank.

Hidden deep inside Mary’s brain was a tiny metallic chip.

Her entire body trembled with suppressed fury.

Grinding her teeth, she muttered in a voice filled with killing intent,

"Institute... one day, I’ll find every single one of you."

Her eyes became ice cold.

"And when I do... I’ll make every one of you pay."

While Aurora was silently preparing for revenge, someone else was already fighting his own battle elsewhere.

That person was none other than Jules.

Most of the time, Jules was very gentle, and she hardly ever argued with Lucas.

However, the moment she learned that Lucas wanted to donate one of his kidneys, countless doubts immediately flooded her mind.

It wasn’t the first time she had noticed that her husband seemed to have a soft corner for Adeline. Why?

She had never been able to understand it.

At first, she had simply assumed that it was because of the brotherly affection Lucas had for Alex, and that affection naturally extended to Adeline as well.

But now, she was genuinely beginning to wonder whether Lucas harbored feelings for Adeline.

Otherwise, why would he throw away a perfectly healthy organ for the sake of a little girl?

Sure, Nia’s situation was heartbreaking. Even Jules admitted that the poor child deserved treatment as quickly as possible.

But that didn’t mean she wanted to watch her own husband give away one of his organs.

It was always easy for outsiders to speak righteously. Everyone could stand on the sidelines and praise Lucas for his generosity.

But if those very same people were asked to donate one of their own organs, they would hesitate a hundred times before agreeing.

’How can they expect me to remain silent when it’s my husband who’s making this sacrifice?’ she thought bitterly.

That was precisely why she had vehemently opposed Lucas’s decision from the very beginning. Unfortunately, Lucas was just as stubborn.

He never backed down. Instead, he remained firm in his decision and even declared,

"Even if I don’t donate my kidney to Nia, I’ll donate it to someone else who truly needs it."

Those words had completely shattered Jules’ patience.

She was already pregnant, and her hormones had made her emotions far more unstable than usual.

Every little thing felt magnified, every disagreement heavier than it should have been. She was on the verge of breaking down.

Eventually, feeling completely helpless and emotionally drained, she reached out to Mary.

Somehow, she felt that only Mary would truly understand how she felt.

Taking a deep breath, she dialed Mary’s number. The call connected after only a few rings.

However, instead of Mary’s familiar voice, Aurora answered from the other side. "Hello."

Jules paused before forcing a bright smile onto her face. "Aurora, where’s Mary? I wanted to speak with her."

Hearing that, Aurora blinked before replying calmly,

"Mother has something important going on at the moment. How about this, Sister-in-law? Tell me what’s bothering you. If it’s something I can solve, then I’ll definitely help you."

Jules smiled politely. "That’s very kind of you to say, Aurora, but... it’s a bit of an adult matter."

She hesitated before continuing. "Your mother..."

Before she could finish, Aurora interrupted her. "Is it about Lucas donating his kidney?"

Silence filled the call. Jules didn’t answer.

Aurora let out a quiet sigh. "I understand, Sister-in-law."

She paused briefly before continuing, "How about we meet in person?"

Jules slowly closed her eyes. Her exhausted voice carried obvious frustration.

"If you’re planning to tell me about generosity, selflessness, or how I should be magnanimous... then save it, Aurora. I’m really not in the mood to hear any of that."

Aurora immediately chuckled. "Jules... do you honestly think I’d feed you that kind of bullshit?"

Hearing those words, Jules couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. "Fine."

She opened her eyes. "Where should we meet?"

Aurora answered, "Let’s meet at a café."

Not long afterward, both of them arrived at a quiet café tucked away from the bustling streets.

Aurora had reserved a private room. Soon, the two women sat across from each other.

As Aurora lifted her gaze, it naturally landed on Jules’ small baby bump. Although it was still barely noticeable, Aurora could already tell.

Almost instinctively, Jules placed a protective hand over her stomach. Only after a few seconds did she realize what she had done.

A faint blush of embarrassment appeared on her face as she awkwardly withdrew her hand. Clearing her throat, she looked directly at Aurora.

"Tell me. How exactly are you planning to defend your brother?"

Aurora let out a soft chuckle. "Sister-in-law... it seems you’ve already decided that I’m here to defend him."

Jules raised an eyebrow. "Aren’t you?"

Aurora slowly shook her head. "No."

Her expression gradually became serious. "I’m here because I want to know what’s truly troubling you."

Jules unconsciously clenched her fists beneath the table and lowered her gaze. Aurora continued gently, "Is it because he’s donating his kidney..."

She paused. "...or is it because he’s donating it to someone you suspect he has feelings for?"

Jules’ fingers tightened instantly. She wasn’t surprised. Aurora had always been frighteningly perceptive.

If anyone could piece everything together from the smallest clues, it was her. After remaining silent for several moments, Jules finally sighed.

Looking directly into Aurora’s eyes, she spoke honestly. "Aurora... I honestly don’t know what you expect me to say."

She paused before continuing. "But trust me when I tell you this. Your brother is far too young to donate a kidney."

She took a slow breath. "He has his entire life ahead of him. He doesn’t understand what he’s giving up. You don’t know this, but I’ve lived long enough to watch countless people regret decisions they once thought were noble."

Her fingers trembled slightly.

"I’ve lived long enough to understand that no sane person willingly gives away one of their organs simply because the recipient happens to be their brother’s wife’s younger sister."

After saying those words, Jules slowly closed her eyes. Aurora immediately understood the hidden meaning behind them.

She lowered her gaze toward the cup of coffee resting before her. After a long silence, Aurora finally spoke. "Sister-in-law... I can’t talk Lucas out of this."

Jules slowly looked up at her. Aurora smiled helplessly. "I won’t lie to you."

She gently wrapped both hands around her coffee cup. "I can’t honestly say that I was happy that Lucas was going to donate his kidney."

She let out a quiet laugh. "When I first heard about it, I was just as shocked as everyone else."

Her smile slowly softened. "But instead of opposing him..."

She looked straight into Jules’ eyes. "...I chose to support him."

The moment Jules heard those words, she immediately rolled her eyes before giving Aurora a sarcastic smile.

"Are you about to tell me that I should support him, smile through my tears, and happily watch my husband live the rest of his life with one kidney?"
