Chapter 665: Luna’s Visit
She carefully attached evidence wherever possible, making it nearly impossible for anyone to accuse her of fabricating the story.
By the time Aurora finished, the entire situation had been laid bare before the public.
Satisfied with her work, she stretched lazily.
’Finally... Time to grab something to eat.’
Just as she was about to leave her room, a faint conversation drifted in from the living room.
Curiosity immediately got the better of her. She quietly opened her bedroom door.
Walking as silently as possible, Aurora peeked into the living room.
The moment she saw the guest sitting on the sofa, she raised an eyebrow.
’Luna? Why is she here? Don’t tell me she’s here to create more trouble.’
Suppressing her curiosity, Aurora hid behind the hallway wall and quietly listened.
Luna’s voice sounded unusually gentle. "I truly hope both of you can attend my wedding."
Aurora’s eyes widened slightly. ’Wedding? She’s getting married? To whom?’
She immediately became interested and continued listening.
Mary smiled warmly. "We’ll definitely try our best to attend."
Adam, however, remained as straightforward as ever. "I’m sorry. I’ll most likely be occupied with business matters. So I probably won’t be able to attend."
Nathan, who had been quietly sitting beside Luna all this time, finally spoke.
"Mr Adam. I genuinely believe you should attend. You were Luna’s saviour. It would mean a great deal to her if you were present on such an important day."
Adam simply chuckled. "I’m sorry. Sometimes there are things called commitments."
He calmly folded his hands.
"Even if you expect me to break those commitments, there should at least be some benefit for me. Wouldn’t you agree?"
His businesslike response caused Nathan’s expression to darken slightly.
Still, he understood exactly why Adam was acting this way. Adam wasn’t trying to insult Luna.
Rather, he was deliberately cutting off every possibility of giving her false hope.
He wanted her to completely let go of the feelings she still held for him.
Luna remained silent. For several long seconds, she simply stared blankly ahead.
Finally, she smiled. The smile was beautiful, yet heartbreakingly lonely. "All right. I understand."
She slowly stood up. Looking directly at Adam one last time, she softly said,
"Mr. Adam, I hope that in our next lifetime, I’ll be the one who meets you first."
Hearing those words, Adam merely laughed.
"It wouldn’t make any difference."
He smiled without the slightest hesitation.
"No matter which lifetime it is, I would still love my wife."
His firm and protective words caused Aurora to chuckle softly.
’Now that’s the kind of answer that leaves absolutely no room for misunderstanding.’
She watched as Luna lowered her head before quietly leaving with Nathan.
Shaking her head, Aurora murmured inwardly,
’Some people truly don’t know when to give up. Hopefully, after getting married, she’ll finally move on and live peacefully.’
After Luna and Nathan completely disappeared from sight, Mary lightly pinched Adam’s hand.
"Why were you so harsh on that poor girl? You could’ve rejected her a little more gently."
Adam immediately pouted.
"Honey, you truly don’t understand these vultures. If I give them even an inch, they’ll take an entire mile. And before I know it, they’ll suck me completely dry."
He exaggeratedly covered his chest.
"Honey, I’m genuinely terrified. I have no choice but to cut off every possibility."
He then looked at Mary with an aggrieved expression.
"And now, even you’re blaming me. I feel so wronged."
Seeing Adam’s childish behavior, Mary couldn’t hold back her laughter.
Deep inside, she knew perfectly well that everything Adam was doing was for her sake.
A warm feeling quietly spread throughout her heart.
She gently reached out and pinched both of his cheeks.
"I truly am lucky to have a husband like you."
Adam laughed before pulling her into his embrace.
"And I’m lucky to have a wife like you."
Seeing the sweet atmosphere between them, Aurora merely smiled before quietly turning around.
’No wonder no woman or man has ever been able to interfere between those two.’
As she walked away, she completely failed to notice another figure emerging from one of the bedrooms.
Olivia slowly stepped out while clutching her stomach.
Her complexion looked noticeably pale. A slight sheen of sweat had formed across her forehead.
She frowned as she softly murmured, "That’s strange, why does my stomach hurt so much?"
Lost in their little romantic world, Adam and Mary only noticed Olivia when she began walking toward the kitchen.
Mary immediately frowned. "Olivia? You don’t look well. What happened?"
Olivia forced out a weak smile before waving her hand dismissively.
"Mom, it’s nothing. I just feel a little tired. That’s all."
Mary wasn’t convinced. She gently pushed Adam aside before walking over.
Placing the back of her hand against Olivia’s forehead, she carefully checked her temperature.
"Hmm, no fever."
She frowned even more.
"Then why are you holding your stomach? Do you have diarrhea or something?"
Olivia slowly shook her head.
"No. My stomach just feels a little sore. It’ll probably go away after some rest."
Without waiting for another question, she quietly walked into the kitchen.
Meanwhile, Aurora shifted her attention back to the internet.
Just as she had expected... Ruby’s video had completely backfired.
Wave after wave of criticism continued flooding toward her.
Although most people still knew very little about the Waters family themselves, Aurora’s evidence-filled posts had exposed everything Ruby’s family had done.
Public opinion instantly turned against Ruby. She was being criticised from every direction.
When Ruby finally saw Aurora’s posts, her face became deathly pale.
Her hands trembled uncontrollably as she gripped her phone.
"Damn it..."
She had never imagined that someone would expose everything so quickly.
Having completely run out of ideas, she decided to visit Tan in prison.
Perhaps he could think of another solution.
As she walked through the streets toward the prison, she constantly felt as though countless people were staring at her.
Every passing glance made her heart skip a beat.
She lowered her head, unconsciously quickening her pace.
Her breathing gradually became heavier.
However... everything was merely her own imagination.
In reality, the pedestrians were simply going about their daily lives, completely unaware of who she was.
Her guilty conscience had become so overwhelming that it made her believe the entire world was watching her.
Even though the post had indeed gone viral, it had only managed to gather around one hundred thousand views.
That number sounded impressive at first glance, but in reality, it wasn’t enough to make Ruby famous.
Most people watched the video, left a comment, and moved on with their lives. Very few would actually recognize Ruby if they met her on the street.
Unfortunately, Ruby herself didn’t think that way.
Her growing paranoia convinced her that everyone now knew her face.
Before leaving the house, she hurriedly put on a pair of oversized sunglasses.
Then she pulled a cap low over her forehead before covering the lower half of her face with a mask.
Only after making sure that almost none of her face was visible did she finally step outside.
Soon, she arrived at the prison. Ruby completed the necessary procedures before requesting a meeting with Tan.
Several minutes later, she was led into the visitation room. A thick glass partition separated the two siblings.
Tan was escorted inside with handcuffs around his wrists.
The moment he sat down, Ruby immediately explained everything that had happened over the past few days.
When she finished, Tan frowned deeply.
"So, you couldn’t even accomplish such a simple task?"
His expression gradually darkened.
"I already told you. I already warned you that the Waters family would never agree to hand over such an enormous amount of money. You should’ve negotiated with them to get me released instead."
Ruby’s patience instantly snapped. "If they aren’t even willing to give us money..."
She slammed her palm against the table. "Then why would they waste their influence to get you out of prison?"
Tan’s face twisted with anger. "It’s because of your selfishness that I’m still locked up!"
His voice echoed throughout the visitation room.
"You’ve always been useless! If you were actually useful, you would’ve gone and seduced some rich man by now. Get me out of here! I’m sick and tired of rotting inside this place!"
Ruby stared at him in disbelief. Then, overwhelming rage surged through her chest. "You have the nerve to blame me?"
She laughed bitterly.
"From the very beginning, this entire mess was your own fault! You were the one harassing that woman. You were the one who nearly assaulted her."
She glared at him through the thick glass. "So tell me, how exactly do you expect me to save someone like you?"
Her voice had become ice cold. "You know what? I’m done. I won’t care about you anymore."
With those words, she stood up. Seeing her preparing to leave, Tan completely lost control.
He jumped to his feet and violently slammed both fists against the glass partition. The loud bang startled even the prison guards.
