Chapter 639: Confrontration
The moment those words left his mouth, Andy burst out laughing.
"Well, what if I want to be your sugar baby?"
Theodore nearly choked on his food.
He immediately showed a horrified expression. "Don’t say that in front of me."
Then he pointed accusingly at Andy. "More importantly, don’t say that in front of your wife."
He shuddered dramatically.
"She’ll definitely beat me to death."
Andy laughed so hard that tears nearly appeared in his eyes.
Unlike Theodore, Andy was already married.
The reason he had temporarily stepped away from acting years ago was because he had fallen deeply in love.
His girlfriend had come from a wealthy family.
At the time, Andy devoted almost all of his attention to maintaining the relationship.
Eventually, the two got married. After marriage, he worked various odd jobs to support his family.
Even so, he never completely abandoned his dream of acting.
Every time he watched a movie or television drama, the old passion would reignite.
Especially during quiet nights, when everyone else was asleep, he often found himself staring at old audition videos and wondering what could have been.
Fortunately, he had finally found the courage to return.
As they continued eating and reminiscing, both men laughed about countless embarrassing stories from their childhood.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the city, another person was also thinking about the past.
Kira, Rose’s lackey. She was currently working inside a coffee shop.
At that moment, Olivia walked inside. She calmly approached the counter. "One iced latte, please."
Kira froze.
The moment she recognized Olivia, her heartbeat accelerated.
For a brief second, panic flashed across her face.
However, years of customer service experience quickly kicked in.
She forced herself to remain professional. "Of course."
Her voice remained steady. Meanwhile, Olivia seemed completely indifferent.
She simply paid for the drink and walked toward a nearby table.
After sitting down, she immersed herself in a newspaper.
A few minutes later, Kira personally delivered the iced latte.
Olivia merely gave a small nod. "Thank you."
After finishing her coffee, Olivia stood up and prepared to leave.
However, before she could walk away, Kira gathered her courage. "Olivia."
Her voice came out softer than intended.
Olivia stopped. She turned around, and their eyes met. Several emotions flashed through Kira’s face.
Looking around at the surrounding customers, Kira lowered her voice.
"I can’t say this in front of so many people."
Olivia studied her quietly. Then she chuckled softly. "Fine."
Soon, the two women walked to a quiet corner behind the café.
Kira lowered her gaze. Her fingers trembled slightly. For several seconds, she couldn’t bring herself to speak.
Finally, she took a deep breath. "I’m sorry."
Olivia wasn’t surprised. In fact, she had expected this conversation eventually.
Kira bit her lip. "I know I was horrible."
Her voice cracked. "I know I acted like a complete bitch. And even after everything you did for me, I still hurt you over and over again."
For the first time in a very long time, Kira genuinely felt ashamed of the person she had once been.
"I was a terrible person."
Kira’s voice trembled as she spoke.
"I gossiped about you countless times. I mocked you behind your back. I looked down on you and degraded you over and over again."
Her fingers curled tightly into her palms.
"I know my apology probably won’t make much of a difference."
She lowered her head even further. "I know I don’t deserve forgiveness."
A bitter smile appeared on her lips. "But I still hoped... that maybe you could forgive me."
Olivia simply looked at her. Then she chuckled softly. "Forgiveness?"
The single word caused Kira’s heart to tighten. Olivia folded her arms.
"Do you really think a simple apology is enough to earn someone’s forgiveness?"
Her tone wasn’t angry.
"I appreciate the fact that you at least thought about apologizing. But for me, that is enough."
Kira froze. Before she could say anything else, Olivia turned around and walked away.
Her footsteps gradually disappeared into the distance.
She never looked back.
The moment Olivia disappeared from sight, Kira’s legs gave out beneath her.
Slowly, she slid down the wall and sat on the cold pavement.
Ever since her family had gone bankrupt and she had lost Rose’s protection, she had been forced to reflect on her past.
And the more she reflected, the more regret consumed her. Especially when it came to Olivia.
Once upon a time, she had actually admired Olivia.
She admired Olivia’s courage. She admired how Olivia dared to stand against all of Rose’s nonsense.
Back then, Olivia had stood alone against countless people.
Yet she had never bowed her head. Meanwhile, Kira had been afraid.
She was afraid of losing her social standing, afraid of offending the wrong people, and afraid of becoming the next target.
Because of those fears, she had chosen the easier path.
Rather than standing beside Olivia, she had joined the people bullying her.
She had convinced herself that she was simply protecting herself.
But deep down, she knew better. She had been a coward. The worst part was that Olivia had never truly hated her.
Even when Kira participated in the bullying, Olivia had often ignored her actions and focused on moving forward.
Looking back now, Kira realized how childish she had been.
She desperately wished she could go back in time. She wanted to make different choices.
She wanted to stand beside Olivia instead of against her.
Unfortunately, time only moved forward. Some mistakes could never truly be corrected.
Meanwhile, while Kira was drowning in regret, another person was experiencing a completely different kind of frustration.
Mr. Davis had recently learned something unexpected.
One of his old friends happened to teach at a prestigious university.
During a casual conversation, that friend mentioned a familiar name.
Mira. The moment he heard it, Mr. Davis became stunned.
At first, he thought there must be some mistake.
However, after hearing more details, he realized the truth.
Mira had actually entered one of the country’s most prestigious architecture colleges.
The revelation left him speechless.
He had originally believed that Mira would eventually end up being sold to some wealthy old man.
At best, he thought she might spend her life struggling.
Yet reality had turned out completely differently.
Not only was she studying at an elite university, but she was apparently performing exceptionally well.
The more he learned, the darker his expression became.
When he discovered that a single year of tuition cost nearly fifty thousand dollars, his jealousy exploded.
Fifty thousand dollars. That was exactly the amount he had accepted in exchange for letting Mira leave.
The amount suddenly seemed insignificant.
A terrible feeling of regret began growing inside him.
For several days, he couldn’t stop thinking about it.
Eventually, greed overcame reason.
So he decided to wait.
Until one day, he finally spotted Mira leaving the university campus.
She was carrying several books against her chest when a familiar figure suddenly stepped in front of her.
The moment she recognized him, her expression darkened.
Mr. Davis.
A cold look entered her eyes. "If we have nothing left to discuss, then move aside."
Her voice was calm but firm. Hearing those words, Mr. Davis chuckled.
The smile on his face was anything but pleasant.
"Do you really think you can escape me forever just because you found someone powerful to back you?"
The implication behind his words immediately became obvious.
Mira’s expression turned colder.
Straightening her back, she met his gaze directly.
"Escape? I am not some criminal that needs to escape."
Her voice remained steady. "I would never think that way."
Then she took a step forward.
"Not to mention, my cousin already paid you every cent you demanded."
The memory of Aurora handing over the money resurfaced in her mind.
"You got exactly what you wanted."
Her eyes narrowed. "So don’t push your luck."
Several nearby students sensed something was wrong and quietly moved away.
For a brief moment, neither of them spoke.
Then Mr. Davis’s eyes flickered. A realization finally dawned on him.
His voice became deeper. "So that’s what happened."
A strange smile appeared on his face. "That woman was your cousin?"
He paused. Then his expression became increasingly ugly.
"And here I thought she was some rich pimp buying you away."
Mira’s grip tightened around her books.
A dangerous coldness appeared in her eyes.
The mention of Aurora immediately touched one of her deepest bottom lines.
"Don’t you dare drag her into our matter." She growled.
This leech... he had ruined her life and almost made her unable to leave the mud, and now he was back just because she was doing well?
She understands that he bullied her because she was an orphan. But now he was extending his scheme to even the Waters family.
If she let him continue... he might as well dance on her head!
"Leave before I lose my temper."
"Haha! Good! Very good! Mira, you have grown wings now? Did you forget the photos I have of yours?"
