Chapter 2 - Two
Erwin
"I ruined my life!" I whine pitifully.
"You did." John says pointedly as he nods, acknowledging what I just said.
"But I got money in exchange!" I suddenly begin to grin like an idiot.
"You are drunk, Erwin." John puts down his beer and looks at me with a serious look on his face.
Oh I hate it.
"You married a total stranger just for money and this is not even a contract marriage. How do you plan to pull it off, Erwin Warner?" He frowns deeply, "Don't tell me you are gonna spend your whole life with him?"
"I am. He has money after all." I say, my grin doesn't disappear for a least bit.
But John's frowns deepens, "You are crazy, Erwin! You can't do this just for money!" He yells silently but loud enough to be heard only by us.
"What does it matter? He married me for a position and I am for money." I take another gulp of my beer, "We are getting only what we both want." I finish simply as if this is the most normal thing to say or to do.
"Then why can't you guys leave each other after your wishes are fulfilled?" He questions again and I hate all this interrogation but can't help it. He is my only friend out there.
