Chapter 285 I Want Control
Lilith stopped pacing mid-step, turned around sharply, and stared at him.
"Wait... you seriously want me to leave town?" she asked, pointing a finger at him. "You want me to run while you fight the Crimson Hand alone?"
Liam didn’t even flinch. He leaned back against the counter and nodded. "Yeah. That’s exactly what I want."
Her expression twisted in disbelief, but before she could speak again, he added, "Because I’m afraid you hate them more than you love your own damn life. And that? That could get you killed."
Lilith narrowed her eyes. She stepped closer, slow and deliberate. When she got close enough, she smacked the back of his head—not too hard, but firm enough to get her point across.
"I’m not stupid, Liam," she said. "I’m not gonna lose my head over some rival gang of lunatics. I know what I’m doing."
Liam waved her off with one hand. "Yeah, right."
"What’s that supposed to mean?" she snapped.
"I’d be stupid to believe that," he replied, dead serious. "I know you, Lilith. You’ll charge in the second you see one of them. You act calm now, but deep down, you want blood."
She didn’t argue that. She didn’t need to. Because both of them knew it was true.
Then, out of nowhere, Lilith slipped her hands around his neck, pulling herself close—too close. Her lips brushed against his skin as she kissed his neck softly, just once, then whispered against it.
"Can we do it now?"
