Chapter 23 The System’s Mockery
Liam sat at his desk, arms crossed, slouched over as he stared blankly at the front of the class. Mr. Rogers, their history teacher, was droning on about some ancient civilization, but Liam wasn’t paying the slightest bit of attention. His mind was elsewhere—specifically, on the absurdity of his system.
Beside him, Dickson was still in a state of shock. His eyes kept flickering toward Liam, his expression stuck between disbelief and amusement. He had spent the past few minutes processing what Liam had just revealed to him—the fact that he had actually gone to Ann’s house, and more importantly, what he had done there. It was a lot to take in, and the more he thought about it, the harder it was to believe.
But Liam, completely ignoring the lesson and his best friend’s reactions, had something far more frustrating on his mind.
Why the hell did the system not reward me for having sex with Ann?
It was a question that had been nagging at him ever since he woke up. The system had given him a reward for something as trivial as grabbing a random girl’s ass, yet for something as major as that, there had been nothing. No increase in stats, no skill unlocks, nothing.
This system is so goddamn inconsistent, he thought, grinding his teeth in irritation.
And then—
A familiar ding echoed in his mind.
Liam’s body tensed as a translucent blue screen suddenly popped up in front of his vision. His eyes darted toward it, his brows furrowing in curiosity—until he read the message displayed on the screen.
[System Notification]
[You fucking cunt. She totally dominated you.]
