Chapter 376: Invade your house
"Congratulations, Nora. You’ve finally gotten rid of those loan sharks," Demitri announced, a satisfied smirk playing on his lips. "Lucius has called you to his office. He wants to return the excess amount they took from you."
Nora’s eyes widened in disbelief. "What?" she gasped, barely able to process the news. "Th-Thank you so much." Her voice trembled, but it was her eyes that carried the depth of her gratitude, the words failing to fully convey what she felt.
Demitri crossed his arms. "I told you Lucius would handle it," he reminded her. "Now you can finally breathe easy. They won’t bother you again."
Nora nodded, her vision blurring with unshed tears. "I... I don’t know how to thank you. No one has ever helped me like this before."
Demitri’s gaze softened. "Then you’ve been surrounded by the wrong people."
Nora let out a shaky breath. "Yeah... I guess I never did find the right ones."
Demitri walked to her and helped her in cooking despite Nora’s refusal. "Let me help you. We will make it quick then. We both are hungry," he said in his usual soft tone.
After they cooked, they sat around the tiny table with two chairs. As Nora served him the food, she said, "I don’t know how the taste turned out to be. But I hope you’ll enjoy."
Demitri began eating while Nora looked at him with anticipation. "It’s good." He gave her a thumbs up. Her racing heart turned normal and she also started eating. Once finished, Nora carried the utensils to the sink. Meanwhile, Demitri sipped the water slowly before taking it to the kitchen.
