Chapter 372: My Lady Luck
Lucius poured the wine in a glass and took the glass between his fingers. His eyes were fixed on the laptop, but his thoughts were elsewhere. While Layla was fast asleep as she was exhausted from the trip, he sat here, in his private office in the mansion.
Sipping the wine, he leaned back on the chair.
"Why are you drinking in the daylight?" Demitri asked after knocking on the door. Lucius lifted his head and passed a smile to him.
"I didn’t expect you to be here," Lucius said, finishing the wine and placing the glass on the table.
"I thought to see you and Layla," Demitri replied and walked in. He pulled out a chair for himself and sat down on it. "Where’s Layla?" he asked.
"She’s sleeping," Lucius replied and closed the laptop.
"You look stressed for some reason," Demitri said.
"I am fine," Lucius answered. "Did Grandma leave?" he then asked.
"Yes, she left this morning," Demitri confirmed. "You don’t look fine. Care to share?"
Lucius gazed at him for a moment. "I’m good. There’s no need to worry about."
"Then, I will trust your words," Demitri stated. He gazed at the wine bottle, feeling Lucius was hiding something from him, but he remained quiet.
