Chapter 362: Find your own happiness
Sylvia glanced at Luca, who sat in silence, sipping his drink.
She stood from her seat and moved to sit beside him. After a brief pause, she spoke. "Did you lose your family too?"
For the first time, she had heard from this unknown person that she was strong in her own way. At the same time, it made her wonder what kind of life he had led.
Luca tilted his head slightly, his gaze finally meeting hers. "Hmm."
"Why didn’t you come to us, then?" she asked, curiosity laced in her tone.
"I don’t entertain mafias," Luca replied flatly. "Your brothers and I have different views, so I kept my distance from Matteo."
Sylvia let out a soft chuckle. "Matteo never listened to us, did he?"
Luca looked at her, confusion flickering in his dark eyes.
Sylvia exhaled a deep breath before continuing, her voice laced with an old sorrow. "After my parents died, we found out that mafias were involved. That’s why my brother chose to enter that world—to eliminate them. He always kept me away from everything, shielding me from the truth. And whenever I told him it scared me, he would simply assure me that nothing would happen."
A shadow of sadness passed over Sylvia’s face as she sighed, her fingers tracing the rim of the glass in front of her.
"Then, I got to know some of Matteo’s friends," Sylvia continued, her voice carrying a hint of bitterness. "They treated me the same way. They promised to take care of me, but none of them truly cared. To them, I was just a burden—too rebellious, too blunt, too harsh. In their eyes, I wasn’t a good person." Her voice wavered as tears welled up in her eyes. "They think I’m mad."
