Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle

Chapter 333: Taking a break

"Grandma, why don’t you rest for a while?" Demitri said gently, glancing at his grandmother as she busied herself with household chores. "The maid will be here soon to clean the house, so you don’t have to worry about it."

Alessia scoffed, setting down the cloth she had been using to wipe the table. "And why shouldn’t you do such a small task yourself? You stay at home all day!" she chided, narrowing her eyes at him.

Demitri let out a sigh, rubbing the back of his neck. "Grandma, I work late into the night. That’s why I wake up late in the morning. It’s not that I don’t want to help, but I barely get enough rest as it is." He softened his tone, hoping to placate her. "Please, just ignore the cleaning for now and come with me. Let me show you to your room."

As he held his grandmother’s arm and began walking with her, Alessia said, "That’s why you should get married. When your wife will scold you, you may realize. By the way, what happened to your date with Nora? Didn’t you like her?" She pressed.

"Grandma, we haven’t spoken since that day," Demitri said, his tone neutral.

"Then call her," Alessia suggested firmly. "You should show some interest now. Do you want to grow old all by yourself?"

Demitri sighed and decided to steer the conversation elsewhere. "Grandma, this is your bedroom. You should rest for a while. You traveled a long way, and I don’t want you to tire yourself out. After you wake up, I’ll cook a nice meal for us," he said, deliberately ignoring her previous remark.

Alessia studied her grandson for a moment and realized he had no real interest in marriage. "Do you perhaps like men?" she suddenly asked.

"No, Grandma!" Demitri immediately denied, shaking his head. "I’m single because I feel there’s still time for all that. And you know I had a relationship in the past. It just didn’t work out, so I’m taking a break before getting into anything new," he explained.

"Alright," Alessia said, deciding not to press further. She patted his arm before lying down.

Demitri pulled the duvet over her and adjusted it properly. "Get some rest, Grandma," he said softly before stepping out of the room. He carefully closed the door behind him and made his way to the living room.
