Chapter 327: Failed miserably, Roger
"That will be great. How did you become Matteo’s friend?" Luca inquired.
"I met him in school days. From there, we became close friends. What about you? Why did you never come to see him? I never heard about you from him either," Lucius stated.
"I did come when his parents died in an accident," Luca replied as he threw the cigaratte butt on the floor and pressed it with his boot. Picking it up, he threw the butt in a nearest bin.
"Oh. I never noticed you," Lucius murmured.
"Matteo and I hardly talked to each other. I told you were not on good terms. I didn’t like it he was on a path to become a mafia. I think we both argued about that and I eventually walked away, telling him he might regret it one day," Luca stated. "Did he ever say it to you? And why did you even get involved with him?"
"Matteo never regretted his work. In fact, he’s the one who brought me out of the darkness. My parents got divorced and I was struggling a lot as a high schooler. If not for him, I would have not be able to cope with the loss. Though I had everything in my life, I wasn’t happy. I didn’t want to live, honestly, after my brother died. He showed me the path and I took all my frustration out by eliminating the big or small gangster groups."
Luca nodded in understanding as he realized Lucius had a different to fight against his own traumas and fears.
"I hope he’s at peace now. I am happy as a friend he protected you till the end. Not every friend does that. Matteo must have regarded you as his own family," Luca remarked.
"Yes," Lucius replied with a warm smile. "It’s late. We should retire to our rooms now."
