Chapter 299: Make her hate me
Aiden and Lucius sat in the airport lounge since their flight still had time.
"Boss, why did you save me? Why did you tell them you need a week to completely disappear from our lives? No one is going to accept this decision of yours. And what about Layla? How are you going to leave her? I think we should take the police’s help," Aiden said, keeping his voice low, so that other few people present in the lounge wouldn’t hear them.
Lucius remained quiet as if he didn’t hear Aiden’s questions. "Please say something, Boss," he said.
"Don’t tell anyone what happened here," Lucius urged.
"No. I cannot do that," Aiden refused to keep the truth from any of them, especially Layla.
"Aiden, please. I want you to keep quiet about it. I was aware that my real father was someone untouchable, someone who had an upper hand on me. Matteo died while protecting me. They will keep threatening the lives of everyone around me. Did you not hear them? For them, family doesn’t have any value. And I need to end them, Aiden," Lucius asserted, explaining him a bit what he wanted.
"And how will you end them, Boss? By sacrificing your own life? Can Layla even bear this separation from you?" asked Aiden with a worried gaze. "We all will start living for once, but what about Layla? She will be broken and devastated. And we have no idea when you’ll return. Are you sure you want to give such a sacrifice?"
"I have an idea for that. I will leave Layla’s life permanently. I will make her hate me forever. She is still so young. And I am sure she can find a better man than me. I dreamt too high. Roderick was always right. I can’t love anyone around me because I was always involved with mafias," Lucius muttered, not realizing what he was saying now.
"Boss, how could you even think about making Layla hate you? I will go back to them and ask them to end me. I have no one around me to mourn for me, except for a few. Please live your life the way you wanted it. Because of me, you got trapped. That’s why I should take you out of this problem," Aiden opined and almost raised to his feet, but Lucius caught his hand.
