Chapter 277: Lost my mind
"Elliot, I thought you were a serious type of guy. I didn’t expect you to call me here to interrogate about a matter of which I wasn’t even a part. You left Ivy when she needed you, so reflect on your own mistake first," Roderick uttered his disappointment. The waiter had returned with a food trolley, ready to serve them.
Roderick left his seat, glancing at Ivy for a brief moment. "Don’t you want to leave with me?" he raised a brow.
"This is the last time we are seeing each other," Ivy told Elliot, fighting back the tears, which were ready to fall off her eyes. Grabbing her clutch bag, she stood up and left with Roderick.
As the elevator doors closed behind them, Ivy broke down, silent sobs shaking her shoulders. When the elevator stopped on the next floor, more people stepped in, forcing her to stifle her cries.
Without a word, Roderick moved to shield her, pulling her close and tucking her face against his chest beneath the thick folds of his long coat.
One hand rested protectively on the back of her head, while the other pressed against the glass wall behind her, creating privacy that allowed her to release the emotions she had been holding back.
It didn’t take them long to reach the ground floor and Ivy pulled away immediately. Roderick held her hand and dragged her out to the woman’s restroom.
Stopping outside it, Roderick tilted his head to Ivy, "Go ahead. I’ll be staying here," he said in his soft voice.
Ivy lowered her head and walked into the washroom. Roderick, on the other hand, leaned against the wall, his hands casually tucked inside his coat. His eyes fell on a faint red stain marring the cream-colored turtleneck beneath his coat. He chuckled softly to himself.
