Chapter 260: Taste like strawberries
"It would be good if you stayed for lunch," Lucius suggested warmly, his tone carrying a subtle hint of persuasion as he walked alongside Roderick toward the door.
"Perhaps another time, Uncle," Roderick replied politely but firmly, his lips curving into a faint smile. "Staying here would feel...awkward for me," he admitted after a moment, his voice tinged with hesitation. "I’ll see you on Monday, then."
Lucius gave a small nod, understanding his nephew’s reluctance. "Alright. I’ll see you out," he said.
Roderick nodded in response, and together, they moved toward the exit. As they crossed the living room, Roderick’s gaze landed on Sylvia.
The sight of her standing there caught him off guard, a flicker of confusion flashing across his face. What was she doing here? His thoughts raced, wondering if things between Lucius and Sylvia had somehow taken a positive turn.
But then another, far more troubling thought took root in his mind. What if Sylvia spoke to Layla? What if she said something that would make Layla despise him even more?
Reaching outside the mansion, Roderick entered the car and drove off. Lucius waved at him and a small smile formed on his lips before he walked inside.
"Why did Roderick come here? I thought you both were on odd terms," Sylvia said. She had the fear that Roderick might have told Lucius how they both planned a month ago to separate Lucius from Layla.
"He had some work from me," Lucius replied.
