Chapter 208: I know what I want
Lucius entered the room, his hands tucked casually into his pockets. The hearty meal he had just shared with his wife, father, and nephew lingered warmly in his mind. However, the events during dinner couldn’t be ignored. Shutting the door behind him with a soft click, he leaned back against it.
"I didn’t expect you to lecture Roderick right in the middle of the meal," he said, his tone carried a humor. "He’s a brat, Layla, and he’s going to throw a fit about it later."
Layla turned on her heel gracefully. Her arms crossed over her chest, and her piercing gaze locked onto his. "So?" she shot back. "I’ll make him understand, no matter how long it takes. I know it hurts you when he blames you for his father’s death, Lucius. But I won’t tolerate his disrespect, not under this roof."
Lucius’ lips curled into a roguish grin as he took steps toward her. "You know," he murmured, his deep voice laced with mischief, "you look incredibly sexy when you’re angry."
Layla’s breath hitched as he closed the distance between them, his tall frame towering over her. His hand gently cradled the side of her neck, his ocean-blue eyes holding her in place with their intensity. His fingers brushed lightly against her ear, sending a shiver down her spine.
"How do you even find me sexy at a time like this?" she asked, a chuckle escaping her lips despite the lingering tension in the air. She tried to pull away, intending to head to bed, but Lucius had other plans.
Before she could take another step, his hand slipped into her hair, gripping it just firmly enough to halt her retreat. His other hand rested at the back of her head, holding her gently but securely.
"Because I know what I want," he murmured against her lips before capturing them in a heated kiss.
The kiss was intense and all-consuming, his lips moving against hers with a desire he had held since the morning. When her lips parted slightly, his tongue slipped inside, exploring and claiming her in a way that made her knees weak.
