Chapter 173: A sign of danger
Lucius took the water hose from Grandma Alessia, his hands gently guiding the stream toward the garden. "You’ve grown your own vegetable patch here, Grandma," he observed with admiration.
"It’s far better than anything you’d find at the market," Lady Alessia replied with a hint of pride, before instructing him to water the plants thoroughly.
"I’m on it," Lucius said with a smile. He glanced over at her, concern lacing his tone. "Why don’t you sit down for a while? Standing too long might strain your knees."
Lady Alessia nodded and made her way to the porch, settling under the shade of the slanted roof. She watched him work, a fond smile softening her features.
"I never thought I’d see you again after all this time," she said, her voice reflective. "Are you happy with your life now?"
"I am," Lucius replied warmly.
"I met your wife, and I must say, I like her. She’s grounded, and her kind nature speaks volumes. You’ve found a real gem, Lucius. Just make sure you cherish her and keep her happy. I know you’re a gentleman, but as your grandmother, I can’t help offering a bit of advice," she added with a knowing smile.
Lucius nodded, his expression turning thoughtful. "I understand, Grandma. Layla means the world to me. She’s the light in my life, lifting me up even on my darkest days. I’ll do everything I can to ensure she’s always happy. And I will keep your advice in my mind always."
"Good. Your parents must be proud to have such a fine son," Grandma Alessia remarked with a warm smile.
