He delicately brushed a few strands of hair from her face, his fingers trailing softly before his hand rested on her cheek.
Layla’s eyes showed movement as she stirred awake from her sleep. She blinked a few times before focusing on Lucius. "Umm... Lucius," she murmured sleepily, shifting closer to him as if drawn by the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. "Good morning."
Lucius leaned in and pressed a tender kiss on her forehead. "Good morning, my wife," he whispered, his voice filled with warmth.
Her lips curved into a soft smile. "What time is it?" she asked, her voice still laced with sleep.
Lucius glanced over at the wall clock. "It’s 10 a.m.," he said casually.
Layla’s eyes widened in alarm. "Oh my God! It’s already ten? We’re so late!" she exclaimed, sitting up abruptly. "Why didn’t you wake me?" She playfully swatted his shoulder, ready to jump out of the bed.
Lucius chuckled, watching her as she fumbled, her robe slipping slightly—a robe he had lovingly draped over her last night after she had fallen asleep.
Before she could fully rise, he reached out and gently pulled her back down into his arms. Layla gasped, her breath hitching for a moment as their eyes met.
