Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle

Chapter 159: I’m worried about him

Orabela stopped Layla in the corridor with a frustrated look. "Why are you doing this to me?" she demanded. "I’m willing to start from scratch, yet you’re making it impossible for me."

Around them, the other employees glanced curiously at them, sensing the tension between the two.

Layla looked at her coldly, clearly unfazed by her comment. "I’m doing what’s right. You didn’t start from zero. You went to Dad for a favor, knowing full well the history between you and the company. You applied for an assistant position, despite all that. Have you forgotten how difficult you made it for me to even get my foot in the door here? I didn’t have the luxury of shortcuts.i worked hard, tirelessly to earn some pennies. However, I’m still offering you a chance to work in a department where your skills are a perfect match."

Orabela furrowed her brow and dropped her arms in confusion. "What do you mean?" she asked, her voice laced with frustration.

"Work as an intern in the sales department," Layla replied, her tone firm. "You won’t be using your name or any connections. If you’re serious about making things right, then this is the very least I expect from you." Layla’s words were sharp but measured. "For more details, follow me to my office." She turned and began walking, with Aiden trailing behind her.

Layla hesitated as she approached her office, unwilling to face Lucius, knowing the emotional weight he carried for her. The last interaction with him had left her heart aching.

"Boss has already left," Aiden said softly, almost as if he had sensed her inner turmoil.

Layla nodded, a hum of acknowledgment leaving her lips as she entered the office. She sank into the swivel chair, her shoulders heavy, and motioned for Aiden to sit as well. Orabela was quick to follow, entering the room with a mix of envy and disdain in her expression. She couldn’t help but compare how drastically their positions had shifted.

"I’m not good at sales, Layla," Orabela said with a hint of stubbornness. "I’d be better suited in management."
