Chapter 130: Stop showing interest
"Why?" Layla asked, genuinely surprised.
Lucius shrugged slightly. "Dad didn’t say much over the phone. We’ll find out when we get there," he replied. Then, glancing at her with curiosity, he asked, "How did things go with your father?"
Layla sighed. "He wants me to see my mother. I think... a lot has come unraveled at home since the truth surfaced."
Lucius nodded thoughtfully. "In that case, should we go to your place first?"
She shook her head. "No, I’m not ready for that just yet," she replied firmly. "Besides, your father called me specifically, so I think it’s best we see him first."
"Sure, then," Lucius agreed, and together they set off for the old De Salvo family mansion.
The drive didn’t take long, and soon they arrived at the grand, sprawling estate with its tall iron gates and ivy-clad walls. As they stepped into the vast living room, they were greeted by the cool, echoing silence of the old mansion. Just then, Fiona appeared, having just come downstairs, a crystal glass of water in her hand. She settled herself on the velvet sofa, her gaze settling on them with a mix of surprise and curiosity.
Noticing their unexpected arrival, she handed her glass back to a nearby servant, a faint smile tugging at her lips. "Well, well... what are you two doing here in broad daylight?" Fiona asked, a note of amusement in her tone, as though their presence at this hour was both surprising and intriguing.
Her eyes moved from Lucius to Layla, waiting for an explanation.
