Chapter 63: About to come next
Roderick pressed his fingers to his temple, his jaw clenched in anger. "My uncle knew about my affair with Orabela all along," he muttered bitterly, fists tightening. "He’s been sitting on evidence, waiting for the perfect moment to use it against me."
Earlier, as he prepared for bed, the call from Orabela had shattered what little peace he had. She told him how Layla had stormed into her house, publicly accusing them of betrayal. To make matters worse, Lucius had chosen that moment to unveil the damning photos of them, showing them to Layla’s family, leaving no room for denial.
Roderick paced the balcony, running his hand through his hair in frustration. The betrayal from someone he had always respected, someone he’d trusted as an elder, stung deeply.
"I treated him like family, gave him my respect," he whispered through gritted teeth. "But now, it’s my turn to play my hand, Uncle Lucius." His jaw tightened with cold resolve as the wind whipped around him.
As Roderick entered the room, he swiftly picked up his phone and dialed a number, his expression cold and focused. "Make sure this is done without any mistakes," he commanded before abruptly ending the call.
He tossed the phone onto the bed, watching it bounce on the mattress before muttering to himself, "Layla, I was willing to go easy on you. But now..." His eyes darkened with an evil intent, and a dangerous smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
"I’ll show you what Roderick De Salvo is truly capable of," he continued, his voice a whisper dripping with menace. "I will bring you to your knees. And when I’m done, there will be no one left to save you—not even Uncle Lucius."
With that, a sinister grin spread across his face as he slid into the blanket before drifting off to sleep.
