Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle

Chapter 54: The Real Daughter

"You can go in," the guard said to Seraphina. She walked inside, her heels clicking softly against the stone path, while the guard led her to the drawing room.

As she entered, she saw Lucius seated comfortably on the sofa, his posture was relaxed but his gaze carried a sharpness.

Before Seraphina could settle into a chair, Lucius’s voice cut through the silence. "I never asked you to sit."

Seraphina stiffened, her brows knitting together. "I’m your mother-in-law. At least show some respect," she responded in a firm tone.

Lucius chuckled lightly with an unsettling sound. Roger stood nearby, watching the exchange carefully.

"My house, my rules," Lucius said, his eyes narrowing. "And let me make something clear—don’t come here looking for Layla. She has nothing to do with you. Why are you pushing me to make your old age the worst days of your life?" His voice was cold, and the weight of his words hung in the air. "If you truly want to make amends, maybe you should start by standing up for Layla. It gives me a headache just thinking about how poorly she’s been treated by her own mother."

He lowered his head slightly, his fingers tracing the rim of his wedding ring, a dark smile playing on his lips. "I can’t help but wonder," he murmured, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper, "are you her real mother, or just pretending to be?"

The quiet menace in his tone made the question hang ominously in the air, as if he already suspected the answer.

Seraphina widened her eyes, her breath was caught in her throat while the beads of cold sweat appeared on her temples.
