Chapter 19: Crush them
Layla was shocked to see the news that had circulated in the entire social media. Her number was flooded with strange messages, forcing her to shut off her phone.
Her identity was exposed to the entire world that she was the illegitimate daughter of the Rosenzweig Family, born out of a wedlock, an affair.
When Layla first discovered that his father and mother weren’t married, she was five. Everyone in the school would tease her and would laugh at her. Orabela would make everyone’s mouth shut, which made Layla believe she was the best sister in the world. But to her shock, Orabela was the one who spread those rumors.
From middle school to high school to college, Layla could never find peace. Orabela made sure she would never feel happy. Whoever knew her identity looked at her with disgust, thinking someday she would also seduce a married man.
"Layla!"
Lucius’s soft voice fell into her ears and she quickly wiped the tears from her cheeks. She didn’t want him to see her weak side. She didn’t want Lucius to find her weak.
Lucius stopped right behind her and she slowly turned around to face him, but she kept her gaze low. "Keep your head up always," Lucius advised her as he lifted her chin. "Everything will be removed from social media, so don’t worry. And tomorrow, we will have the wedding reception. Time to reveal to the world that you are my legal wife!" He said, the tiny smile still playing on his lips.
"Lucius, can I use you against my family? Against Orabela? And against Roderick?" Layla queried. She knew the answer, but she wanted a confirmation too.
"You can. But don’t be soft on them. Crush them completely. If you find that difficult, I’m there," Lucius said, the hand on his chin now rested on her cheek. His thumb grazed under her eye to wipe the remnant of the tears. He did the same with the second eye.
