Under the vampire Lord's protection

Chapter 55: A rain walker

"Do make sure to hang it up," said Mr Kallum, "Leaving it in the box for days won't be ideal. I've added a protective sheet for you to put it on top of the dress when hung up,"

"I promise you that, Mr Kallum," Arabella smiled.

Standing by Katherine who carried the box for her, both women waited for Mr Kallum to turn around and head for the main entrance. They then Ascended the stairs leading up to the first floor.

"Have you ever seen a more beautiful dress than this one?" Katherine hung the dress in Arabella's wardrobe first thing after entering her room.

"I don't believe I have," the young woman placed her locket on the nightstand beside her bed.

Their merry chirps were only broken by the thunder rumbling the walls of the manor. Arabella rubbed her hands over her arms while approaching the window to watch the raging storm.

"Tonight will be quite cold. You'd better cover yourself well," Katherine shut the wardrobe door and moved closer to Arabella to watch as the rain hammered the glass with such force that their impact sounded like knocks, "Alright, then, I'll be off. Try to get some rest. It's already late for you. I think you should leave reading for the morning," the vampire's eyes followed Arabella's gaze towards the anthology that lay on the table.

"You are right," the young woman looked down and smiled, "Besides, I don't think I'd be able to focus even if I tried. Butterflies still are beating their wings through my stomach,"

And with that, Katherine left her to her own devices. After a warm bath and a change of garments, Arabella slipped between the bed and the thick sheets that draped her body. Some matters still hung on her shoulders, but overall, it was not a bad night for sleeping.
