Chapter 1544 - 1533: Scumbag’s Redemption
Ye Qiu said that very loudly, and instantly all the surrounding guests looked over. After understanding what he meant, they gave Gao Yanyan a strange look.
Since Gao Yanyan became a streamer, she thought she was immune to such looks. However, she overestimated herself; at this moment, she felt extremely embarrassed and wished she had never appeared.
Then she blamed Ye Qiu for his straightforwardness and abruptness. Couldn’t he say things nicely? Did he have to make it like this?
But even though he rejected her like this, Gao Yanyan didn’t choose to give up, because where else could she find someone with better conditions? Now Ye Qiu could scold her for his wife, and in the future, he would definitely be able to sacrifice everything for her.
Throughout history, being a mistress has never been easy, and not all men will cheat when tempted, but she doesn’t care about other people’s opinions; only what’s in hand is real.
After drinking, Ye Qiu still called a driver for hire and brought Mei Ya a cup of milk tea on the way home.
Upon returning home, it was Mei Ya who opened the door for him, surprised that he came back so early.
"This is your milk tea, according to your preference, half sugar with extra pearls and red beans." Ye Qiu handed over the milk tea, looking aggrieved.
Mei Ya was surprised that he still remembered her preferences, but was more concerned about his current expression, which seemed like he had been wronged somehow?
"What happened? Did you not get along with your classmates?"
"She covets me." Ye Qiu angrily complained to Mei Ya, looking indignant, "I really didn’t expect her to be that kind of person."
"Huh?"
"You have no idea what happened today." Ye Qiu silently recounted today’s events, "A month ago at the reunion, I wanted to help her after knowing she wasn’t doing well. But who would have thought she misunderstood me, even suggesting we go to a hotel, offering to repay me with a night—it’s absurd! I never expected her to turn out like this."
"You met a female classmate?" Mei Ya asked, frowning.
"Yeah, didn’t I tell you?" Ye Qiu looked at her bewildered, "But no worries, I won’t see her again. She’s simply insane."
"But why would she suddenly feel that way? What did you do?" Mei Ya squinted at him, expression slightly dangerous.
Ye Qiu’s eyes darted away, stammering, "Before, she mentioned she wasn’t doing well over the years. I couldn’t bear hearing it and saw she made money from streaming, so I gave some tips."
"Out of all your classmates all the way through school, it’s not just her who’s having a hard time. Why only help her?" Mei Ya wouldn’t let go of this question. She was very angry now; her husband actually hid such a connection with another woman from her.
"I’ll tell you the truth if you promise not to get angry, okay?" Ye Qiu softly said.
Mei Ya took a deep breath, staring at him intently: "Tell me."
"Actually, she should count as my first crush, although it was not a true romance. I just quietly admired her; back then, she was the school goddess, almost all the male classmates liked her, but her family conditions were good, so I didn’t dare to confess."
Mei Ya sneered, "In college, my conditions were also much better than yours, why did you dare to pursue me then? Am I not as good as her?"
"Of course not." Ye Qiu quickly denied, "My feelings for her were just a youthful infatuation, hardly real love. But with you, it’s different. I genuinely feared you’d be pursued by other men, so I disregarded the difference in our status. Xiao Ya, I’m really grateful you chose me then."
Mei Ya was moved upon hearing this; how could she not know Ye Qiu’s true heart for her back then? However, as years passed, especially after her mother-in-law came, they lacked such honesty and sincerity. When her husband sided with her mother-in-law, she constantly thought of divorce, yet occasionally, he cared for her with exquisite attention, making her unable to forget the love they shared back in school.
She hated herself for not being decisive, but cherished his occasional tenderness. Of course, importantly, she didn’t want their daughter to get hurt. Now she’s very clear, so long as Ye Qiu doesn’t commit any fundamental mistakes, as long as her mother-in-law doesn’t corrupt their daughter, she can endure anything. At worst, in one ear and out the other.
"Xiao Ya, what’s wrong?" Ye Qiu looked at Mei Ya’s current expression with some heart palpitation; he couldn’t help but wonder, what does marriage bring to a woman? Most women have fewer smiles after marriage, and their eyes lose that sparkling brightness.
Currently, he can’t deal with others’ affairs, but he must help Mei Ya regain her youthful happiness. Presently, the biggest challenge before him is Mom; she can be considered a good mom but definitely not a good mother-in-law.
"Oh, nothing." Mei Ya snapped back to reality and continued to ask, "What then? What happened with that female classmate?"
"Of course, I flatly rejected her. What does she take me for? I’ve already said I have a wife and family, yet she’s so shameless. No wonder her dad faced disciplinary charges, her mom was dismissed, and she can only do that kind of work. Their whole family is flawed from the root."
"You used to like her so much, is it alright to disparage her now?" Mei Ya was no longer angry, even found it somewhat amusing.
"I was just being kind, but she insisted on being a mistress to ruin my family." Mei Ya wasn’t angry, yet Ye Qiu was fuming, "I didn’t even have dinner because of this."
"You haven’t eaten? Should I make you a bowl of noodles?"
"Thanks, wife." Ye Qiu embraced her, catching Mei Ya off guard with a sudden act of closeness.
She pushed him away, "What’s got into you today? Why are you being so clingy?"
"I’m not clingy with anyone else." Ye Qiu murmured, leaving Mei Ya more helpless.
Since they started dating, Ye Qiu had never been the type to understand romance; their most frequent dating places besides the library were the cafeteria, and Ye Qiu was always very proper with her. It was a year into their relationship that he occasionally gave a light kiss, and they only truly came together after marriage.
Because of his innocence and respect, Mei Ya had always felt her choice was right. Although occasionally she would feel a bit down, thinking about how his wholehearted care for her was merely unexpressed made it alright.
Later, after Mom arrived, he initiated even less, often making Mei Ya feel like he might not love her anymore. So Ye Qiu’s sudden affectionate act today left her very uncomfortable and disturbed.
"I’ll go to the kitchen; you go take a shower first." Mei Ya quickly left the room, which left Ye Qiu quite helpless, thinking about the impending rival; evidently, he had a long way to go.
