Chapter 70 - 68: Eldest Senior Brother
The further west you go, the more desolate it becomes, with boundless deserts all around. The scorching sun bakes the earth, and occasionally fire scorpions and poisonous snakes emerge from the golden sands in search of food, warning of the dangers lurking within.
Is it here?
Ye Qiu arrived at a desolate temple, its roof had been torn off by strong winds, and the damaged Buddha statue lay half-covered in sand on the ground. To call it a temple was generous, as only a few pillars remained standing.
At first glance, there seemed nothing remarkable about the place, yet the green copper plate in his hand was vibrating more intensely than it had in some time.
Ye Qiu circled the ruined temple several times, noticing that the green copper plate was most active when he was closest to the Buddha statue. It seemed that whatever was hidden must be inside the statue.
The Buddha statue itself was made of refined copper and held no particular value, otherwise, it would not have been left here. A quick investigation by Ye Qiu revealed a secret compartment at the base of the statue, within which lay a brocade box.
Its preservation was likely due to the temple and the Buddha statue being considered worthless.
When Ye Qiu opened the brocade box, he indeed found another piece of green copper inside, slightly larger than the one he had, but the two pieces did not fit together. He could not figure out the reason and simply stored them in his ring space without giving it further thought, believing that he would eventually find out in time.
