Chapter 138: The Overlord’s Dominion (2)
The city had not yet recovered from the echo of Igaris’ proclamation when the first ripple of resistance arrived.
A whistle pierced through the heavy air as more than a hundred elite figures descended from the skies, rooftops, and narrow alleyways. Clad in reinforced battle uniforms bearing the insignia of the Stargaze Law Enforcement Division, they formed a blockade in the skies and streets. Each of them radiated a pressure well above Champion Rank. They were elites, hardened in battle, unquestioning in duty.
Their commander, a hulking man with flaming red hair and scar across his brow, hovered in midair before Igaris. His badge glowed, signifying he was a High Commander, Rank: Legendary.
"Igaris Vance!" he bellowed. "You are hereby charged with unauthorized martial suppression, resisting imperial authority, and murder of three enforcement agents. Surrender peacefully or face execution."
Below, the city watched with bated breath.
Igaris did not respond immediately. Instead, he raised a single finger and pointed at the commander.
"You speak as though the Empire still rules this city," he said quietly. "That era ended five minutes ago."
A hush fell over the crowd.
The commander’s eyes narrowed. He gestured with a hand, and instantly dozens of law enforcers surged forward like arrows loosed from the heavens, each one brandishing energy-forged weapons and martial abilities that crackled with raw force.
"Engage. Do not hold back!"
They came fast, but Igaris was faster.
