The riverbank buzzed with soft chatter as the trio relaxed under the shade of a large willow tree. The rustling leaves added a pleasant backdrop to the flowing water. Xiao Mei dipped her feet near the edge while keeping her fishing rod steady, humming a little tune under her breath.
Bai Long leaned back with a grin. "Let’s make this more interesting. Whoever catches the most fish gets a free dinner from the other two."

Moments passed quietly. Birds chirped nearby, and the river flowed steadily. Then suddenly—
"Ah! My line!" Xiao Mei gasped, standing quickly.
The rod bent sharply, and she pulled with all her might. The water splashed, and a silver-scaled fish leapt from the surface before dropping into her net.
"I am the first!" she declared proudly, holding up her catch with a huge smile.
Bai Long clapped lightly. "Looks like Lady Luck favors you today."
Igaris smiled faintly. "Well done, Xiao Mei."
As they resumed fishing, more villagers gathered nearby to enjoy the calm afternoon. A group of old men played chess under a tree. A woman sold skewered meat and sweet buns from a basket. The world here was peaceful. Warm.
