Chapter 1342 - 1346: Well of the Imprisoned Dragon
Ji Yuanye felt a slight decrease in his inner doubts upon hearing this.
This person was undoubtedly exceptional.
They must have crossed paths a century ago in the Dragon Gate, exchanged polite bows without clashing, and had even briefly offered mutual aid.
The passage of time within the Dragon Gate is as elusive as it is volatile—sometimes interminably long, sometimes extraordinarily fleeting. Even Daoist companions who journey together within it can be completely forgotten, let alone those who’ve merely encountered each other a handful of times and exchanged mutual admiration.
No one who hasn’t endured the tribulations of the Dragon Gate could speak such words. Ji Yuanye tentatively acknowledged Zhu Minglang’s identity, but his vigilance remained firmly in place.
"I’m not faring much better either. The path of cultivation is long and arduous. A century ago, I was just like you—young and impetuous, believing I could cover the heavens with one hand, only to discover that there’s always a higher sky and stronger people beyond one’s grasp..." Ji Yuanye said.
"Ah, after enduring calamities in the Fourth Layer of Heaven, I came to realize the immense gap between myself and true immortals and demons. But such is life—full of rises and falls, twists and turns. Encountering you here today has, oddly enough, lightened my heart. May I ask, Daoist Brother, what grand matters occupy you here? Is there perhaps a need for my assistance?" Zhu Minglang inquired.
Ji Yuanye also spoke in vague terms and then paused for a moment.
The two conversed with intermittent casual remarks as if they were familiar old friends, despite being separated by a group of imposing Daoists. Everyone understood the unspoken rules of the Dragon Gate: never trust anyone, not even the Daoist companion beside you.
Ji Yuanye could sense the similar aura emanating from the other and grew increasingly certain that this young man must be at the level of a venerable monster.
