Reborn as a Vampire in a Dying World: Blood, Power, and Pleasure

Chapter 48: Starting a Vampire Bloodline

As Rose and Corven looked at each other, unsure of what to say next, it was Corven who finally spoke, breaking the brief silence that hung between them like a fog.

"You’re in a safe place," he said, keeping his voice calm, "but I have to ask... why were you captured?"

The girl tilted her head slightly, a flicker of confusion crossing her delicate features. "Why? Don’t you know me? I assumed you would, since you’re the one who rescued me." Her tone was soft, but laced with suspicion. Her crimson eyes shimmered briefly—no, swirled—as if something invisible had just stirred within her.

"That’s... odd..." she murmured, suddenly placing a hand over her forehead, as if trying to feel for something that wasn’t there.

Corven’s eyes narrowed slightly, concern slowly creeping onto his face.

’Don’t tell me... did Bloodfracture actually work on her?’

"I can’t sense the connection to my sire..." she said in a concerned voice, barely louder than a whisper.

’Maybe her condition weakened her enough for it to work...?"

Corven bit his lip, hard. The worst-case scenario had come to pass, and he didn’t have a single damn clue how to reverse it.

"You..." she began again, looking at him with wide, uncertain eyes. There was fear behind them now—genuine fear.

"Do you know what they did to cause this? I’ve never heard of any magic that could sever a bond like this..."

Corven shook his head, forcing his expression to remain neutral. "No... nothing that I can remember," he replied, lying through his teeth.
