Sarah nodded, her eyes still on him, her heart full of contentment. "Yeah... yeah, of course," she responded, jumping up and down, her smile matching his. "He’s going to be so proud."
Leo picked up his phone, walking toward the window as the evening light washed over their apartment in soft orange light. Sarah sat gently on the bed, watching him with her eyes full of admiration...
His phone rang once... and then twice...
A familiar voice answered, "My boy, what’s up?"
Leo’s throat tightened for a second, but then he spoke up with energy. "Uncle... I got it... I got the job."
A pause on the other end of the phone...
Then laughter. Pure, unfiltered and emotional laughter...
"You got the job?" his uncle repeated, Ted still laughing, his voice already cracking. "You—Leo, you’re serious?"
Leo’s smile trembled while on the call. "I got the job... HexaSoft. I’m in, Uncle Tanaka. They picked me."
"Thank God," his uncle whispered, his emotion suddenly heavy in his voice. "I knew it... I knew they’d see it too. I’m really proud of you, Leo... congratulations."
Leo turned his head slightly, just enough to see Sarah watching from behind him, her towel still snug around her body, her eyes soft and filled with emotions.
"Thank you, Uncle Tanaka, once more," he said, his voice lower now. "For everything. Really. I wouldn’t have got this position if it weren’t for you."
