Chapter 41 - 40: To the Lotus Palace

"This level of advancement. It’s approaching the theoretical limits described in ancient texts. Who could possibly have achieved such a breakthrough?"

Palace Master Danhye Yeoryeong’s question hung in the air as dawn broke over Mount Mugang, casting long shadows across grounds that still trembled with residual ki pressure from the night’s unprecedented events. The energy signature from Jinmu’s breakthrough had awakened every cultivator within miles, creating an atmosphere of excitement and apprehension that permeated the entire pavilion complex.

Everyone knows something extraordinary happened, but they don’t know where or who was responsible. That gives me some time to consider how to handle the political implications of what I’ve achieved.

Jinmu emerged from his quarters with carefully controlled composure, his appearance giving no indication of the fundamental transformation he had undergone during the night. The Divine Sovereign’s Celestial Authority flowed through his consciousness like a barely contained ocean, but to external observation he appeared to be the same masked participant who had helped resolve the recent crisis.

"There you are," came Yeoryeong’s voice as she approached from the direction of the administrative buildings. "I was hoping to speak with you about the situation we discussed yesterday. Events have been developing faster than anyone anticipated."

She’s fishing for information about the breakthrough while maintaining the pretense of normal conversation. Smart approach. Public speculation about who achieved legendary cultivation levels could create political complications.

"Of course, Palace Master," Jinmu replied with appropriate formality. "Though I should mention that I may not be available for extended consultation. The recent events here have highlighted the need for me to address certain matters that have been delayed too long."

Yeoryeong’s eyes sharpened at this carefully neutral statement, her political instincts immediately recognizing the significance of what wasn’t being said directly.

"I see," she said thoughtfully. "In that case, perhaps we should discuss those matters privately. There may be ways that the Yeonhwa Lotus Palace can assist with whatever concerns require your attention."

She’s offering alliance and support without explicitly acknowledging that she suspects my involvement in the breakthrough. Diplomatic finesse that protects both of us from premature commitments while keeping communication channels open.

"That would be appreciated," Jinmu acknowledged. "Though first I should ensure that the immediate security situation here has been properly resolved. Pavilion Master Hyeon Ryu’s recovery and the pavilion’s stability remain my primary concerns."

As they walked toward the main administrative complex, signs of the night’s disruption were evident throughout the pavilion. Disciples and instructors gathered in small groups, discussing the unprecedented ki pressure they had all experienced. Guards maintained heightened alertness despite the absence of any obvious threats. The atmosphere was one of controlled tension as everyone tried to understand what had occurred.
