Chapter 46: Last mistake

"Tsk, they killed my bear so easily," the summoner spat, his concentration broken.

Mitch seized the initiative, hurling a concentrated mana ball toward the nearest archer.

The magical projectile blazed through the air with devastating power, far more than most tier-two mages could muster.

The archer’s eyes widened in shock; they didn’t expect a mage.

Most mages carried staves and traveled in larger groups for protection. This sword-wielding duo had caught them completely unprepared.

The experienced shield-bearer’s instincts saved his companion’s life.

With reflexes honed by years of combat, he threw himself between the archer and the incoming spell, his face grim with the realization of what they faced.

The mana ball’s power made his blood run cold. No ordinary tier-two mage could generate such devastating force.

He frantically activated a defensive trinket, and a wall of solid earth erupted from the ground just in time to absorb the blast.

But Mitch was relentless. A second mana ball followed immediately, giving their enemies no respite.

The archer managed to loose an arrow enhanced with wind magic, hoping to disperse the spell, but even though it weakened the attack slightly, the remaining force still slammed into the shield-bearer’s defense, sending him skidding backward several meters.

The remaining three attackers pressed their assault.
