Laurel looked the Beta up and down. Him falling in love with one of her pack members would be the worst thing that ever happened to him.
After all, he and his Alpha made her not to believe in love so she’d do the same. "Let’s see how it goes."
The odds were already in her favor and she’d only use the Beta mercilessly till he’d give up on Jessika.
She grabbed the file she was reading and looked away from the Beta. Cade recognized the file as he had seen the Alpha holding it during the past few days.
"Do you hate the Alpha?" he suddenly asked.
Laurel didn’t expect the question and hesitated. She looked up and frowned when she felt Elma coming alive to that question. Her own wolf betrayed her expectations every time.
"Am I supposed to like him, Beta Cade? What stupid question is that?" She darkened her eyes on him.
What was he trying to prove with such a question? Did he noticed his Alpha’s attachment to her and thought she felt the same?
"You really like to annoy me." It left her lips, and she didn’t know why she should feel annoyed by his question. "You can leave, Beta Cade."
