Chapter Two Hundred-Ninety-Two – Survive
Zeldris turned to see a lady cladded with white armor, sending dangerous beams of hate from her blue eyes.
She had an enthralling golden brown hair and a gorgeous face, holding a bundle of paper under her arm. Zeldris turned back to Thales, who looked like he’d piss his pants.
Laurel noticed the tension but ignored it and walked down the stairs. She barely knew Thales so there’s no need to butt into his personal problems.
The lady began climbing the steps. Thales took a step back but paused, exhaling. Zeldris nudged him. "An ex?"
A failed relationship was the only suitable reason a man and woman would stare so disturbingly at each other.
But Thales shook his head and rubbed his neck. "I left her twin to die in a mission and stayed at High Moon since."
It wasn’t enough detail for Zeldris to go on but he understood one thing – Thales was at fault.
He turned and saw that the Princess, and the Beta and his maidens had long began descending the stairs.
He patted the witch’s shoulder and muttered. "Survive."
That seemed to spark something in Thales even if Zeldris had said it as a joke. The witch clenched his fists remembering what made him leave the young man.
He was trying to survive. He nodded at the Knight.
