Chapter 255: Guilty
Chapter Two Hundred-Fifty-Five – Guilty
Since Laurel heard the warriors talk about Prince Sorren returning to High Mountains, she had searched for Zeldris to hitch a ride back so they’d search for his cousin.
It was after many hours that she heard he had stayed at the prison despite Valkyrie telling me that the Princess said he could return.
Laurel didn’t think he’d be that worried over Bebe that he seemed to argue with a lot. The news that Bebe had been locked up had shocked them all to the core.
None of them wanted to have anything to do with prisons after surviving the maid quarters that was second only to the prison life. Laurel could confirm.
Bebe’s strange situation could only be caused by magic and it made the others wary about going close, in case the magic was like a transferable disease.
The witch’s location was unknown so there was only one solution Laurel could think about. Finding Zeldris’s cousin that was a witch.
She reached the prison and sighted Zeldris, rested on the wall. She sped to him, holding a wrapped bean cake in both hands and presented it like a gift.
He fell back, but hit the wall, before his shocked expression turned to a smile. "Princess, did you sleep well? I hope you didn’t miss me too—"
Laurel placed a hand on his shoulders, slapping it lightly. "I slept the best knowing you weren’t close."
Zeldris playfully shoved her hand aside, and grabbed the snack. She chuckled at his reaction.
He wouldn’t know she had no idea he camped outside the prison. She noticed the flattened grass he must have laid at on the ground.
