The 9th Class Swordmaster: Blade of Truth

Chapter 386: Prelude to Annihilation (2)

“This is our first meeting, I presume.”

In the small barracks just outside the capital, Karyl regarded the elderly man as he lounged back in a worn-out chair. He was thin and short—far from the physique one might expect from a master of hand-to-hand combat.

To anyone else, he could easily be mistaken for a harmless old man from some quiet village.

“You, too, may speak comfortably, King of Martial Arts. Was it you who saved the two of them?” Karyl inquired, careful not to reveal the full extent of his curiosity.

“Would I go so far as to say I saved them? Well... there wasn’t much to save. They were lying unconscious in the Blood Cave, so I simply let the Fonein carry them downstread,” Valvont explained, scratching his throat as he spoke. “And, well, I’m parched...”
