I Became a Ruined Character in a Dark Fantasy

Chapter 541

"Um... well." Lucia, narrowing her eyes as if trying to recall, continued, "I heard all sorts of rumors were circulating. His Excellency didn’t seem to have any precise information either. He asked me a whole bunch of questions. Of course..."

Lucia tilted the wine glass in her hand and smiled. "I handled it well, so don’t worry."

"I wasn’t worried about that in the first place," replied Ian.

It seemed the story he had heard in the deep forest from the Elder Chief was the most recent news. Then again, it had been over a fortnight since Lucia had met the Duke.

"Don’t tell me that the situation we were expecting has already happened," Lucia added cautiously just then.

Ian, who had extinguished his cigarette on the floor, swung his legs onto the bed and said, "Not yet. But it seems it will be soon."

"I see. That’s faster than I expected." Lucia nodded, then brought the wine glass to her lips and added, "And the Platinum Dragon... still no response?"

"None."

Ian placed his left hand on his chest. The pouch containing the Platinum Dragon’s talisman was tucked against his bare skin, under his shirt. Of course, the talisman remained silent.

"It’ll give a signal when the time comes. Until then, we have no choice but to move as if it’s not here."

"Yes. Still, it worries me. If the trouble reaches you, Sir Ian, unnecessary blood will be shed," murmured Lucia. She took a sip of wine, unable to hide her concern.

Ian smacked his lips briefly. "Well, that can’t be helped."
