Tsunade looked at the sleeping form of Usagi. Unknowingly, a melancholic smile appeared on her face. The phantom pain in her chest intensified. The child that she had once abandoned, had grown to an incredible kunoichi in such a short time. Tsunade grimaced thinking about the warning from her teacher. Now he understood that the old man had played with her. Not taking responsibility for the child was obviously the wrong decision. But back then she was not in her right mind. Truth to be told, Tsunade didn't care about her teacher's warning about not revealing herself as Usagi's mother. She knew that his teacher must have something in plan for the girl. He has always been the one to play politics. And knowing her lineage and her potential Hiruzen must be grooming the girl to become one of his main supporters. But Tsunade had never cared about politics. But the problem was after all this time, she didn't have the heart to see herself as Usagi's mother. It just felt wrong. Tsunade still remembered the first time she saw Usagi. It was during a visit to the house of Jiraiya's disciple. Back then she had outright avoided her because of her resemblance to her own younger self. Usagi was not a fool despite how she acted generally. To any outsider, she was an accident, an unwanted child. Usagi was happy now. Tsunade didn't want to complicate her life by revealing the truth. She fully expected Usagi to hate her. Even if she managed to prepare herself mentally, she just didn't want the girl to suffer unnecessarily. Usagi was thriving on her own. In terms of talent, she was way above her level. After all, the girl had managed to master even jutsus like Chakra scalpel in just a day by using multiple Shadow clones. But her true talent was in fuinjutsu. A rather difficult shinobi art that even she failed to master.
"*Sigh*" Taking a deep breath, Tsunade sighed. It will be better if the truth never comes out. Better for both of them.
Tsunade got up to get a bottle of alcohol from her secret stash. It was already past midnight but she couldn't sleep. So she was hoping for alcohol or to help her with it.
But before she could reach her stash, a sudden knock on the door stopped her in her tracks.
"Come in."
"Tsunade sama ! We have received an urgent report from the frontline ! The Messenger bird just delivered it ! The tsuchikage Onoki had made a move !" The messenger immediately handed over a scroll to Tsunade.
