Chapter 1459
All around the glade, the others drew closer. Lucy’s skin was still damp with sweat, her eyes glazed with affection and hunger. Sophie and Emma stood beside each other now, hands twined, breaths slowing from the rhythm they’d shared. Natalie stepped barefoot from the water, droplets gliding over the curves of her hips, her mouth parted in reverence. Zoey curled against Jude’s side, one hand resting just over his heart, where the island’s pulse now echoed.
Layla began to hum again, low and steady. The sound resonated in Jude’s chest. It wasn’t a song now - it was a signal.
One by one, they joined it.
A vibration in the throat, in the air, in the earth.
Rose guided him to the center, to where the moss was thick and soft. She knelt first, then Layla, then Zoey. The others circled them, forming a ring of bare skin, glowing eyes, and linked hands. As the humming deepened, the light filtering through the trees seemed to shift, bending and warping like the air around a flame. Something unseen moved through it - watching, listening, responding.
Jude sank to his knees. Layla reached out and undid the last tie at his waist, her fingers reverent. The glade was no longer just a place - it was a temple, and they were its worshipers, its sacrifice, and its gods all at once.
Lucy stepped behind him and kissed the back of his neck, slow and lingering. Sophie knelt in front of him and placed her palm on his chest. Her gaze was clear, sharp, burning. "This is the moment, Jude," she said softly. "This is the binding."
"What binding?"
Emma answered from behind Sophie. "Heart. Flesh. Spirit."
The humming rose.
Natalie’s voice joined it in harmony, sweet and haunting.
