Chapter 539 - 224: I’m Sorry, Mo Yunchen_5
Mo Yunchen clasped Qin Qin’s hand that was reaching down to pick up her dropped items, squatting low with his long fingers picking up each piece of wild vegetables and wild boar meat and placing them into the basket.
Qin Qin’s gaze never left the back of his head. As she watched the side of his face that was bowed, her eyes reddened slightly. She desperately told herself to restrain her feelings, to not let him detect any flaws. Perhaps he was merely suspicious. Who could recognize her looking like this now? She absolutely couldn’t let him recognize her, because she didn’t dare, didn’t dare to face him looking this way.
Mo Yunchen stood up, his tall frame exuding a familiar and crisp scent. His gaze was locked onto her the entire time, watching as she kept her head lowered from the start. He couldn’t see her face, but the wrist that was exposed he saw clearly, covered with wrinkles. The backs of her hands, once fair and flawless, were now full of wrinkles, tightening his heart with distress.
He stood at her doorstep for a long time, until the sound of her footsteps behind him stirred excitement within him. He thought she would come forward to embrace him, but to his surprise, when she saw him, she turned and left.
Without a second thought, he chased after her, looking at her as she walked ahead with a staggeringly large belly, seemingly afraid to see him.
Even without seeing her face, he recognized her silhouette. It was her, the one who had heartlessly left five months ago. This time, he absolutely wouldn’t let her go.
"Thank you," Qin Qin said with a hoarse voice, trying to reach out and take the basket from Mo Yunchen’s hand.
Hearing her voice, pain and discomfort flickered in his phoenix eyes.
