Chapter 325
Ye Tian couldn’t be bothered to expose the truth; after he finished eating, he rubbed his hands together and walked out of the house. Through the crack of the door, He Ku tiptoed over to the table and started wolfing down the food, while outside the crack, Ye Tian chuckled to himself but said nothing and continued to the courtyard.
Attached to the rear of the bicycle was a local dog that had barked twice, which caused Ye Tian to glare fiercely, prompting the dog to tuck its tail and scurry behind the wheel to hide, its ears drooping down as if it had suffered a great injustice.
"Wait till I tidy up the house before I deal with you!" After having intimidated the dog, Ye Tian picked up an iron bar leaning against the wall and headed toward He Biandan’s house.
The house wasn’t severely damaged; there wasn’t much to destroy in the first place. The earthen bed had been smashed rather severely, and if not fixed up, it really couldn’t be slept on. The newspapers and calendars that had been pasted on the walls were torn down, and there was a bunch of torn papers on the floor – they were He Ku’s exercise books and books. Pots, pans, and ladles had been collected by He Biandan and piled up in a corner. The electric rice cooker was smashed to a sorry state; even the heating element had been deliberately broken. Such animosity this must be.
Ye Tian had initially felt a bit of regret over last night’s events, but upon seeing the state of things here, that slight regret vanished without a trace. How unfair it is for a family of five to bully a pair of honest father and son, and with a kid involved too.
Serves you right for your house getting smashed! Ye Tian thought indignantly.
While shoveling dirt, He Ku came over. He squatted in the corner, organized the pots and pans, and dragged the table, which had been split in two, into the courtyard. Judging by the split on both halves of the table, it seemed to have been cleaved with an axe.
"What are you doing with that broken table?"
He Ku brought the two halves of the table together, and rubbing his hands, which had turned as red and swollen as radishes from the cold, he said, "My dad’s a carpenter; he can fix it."
He spoke with unhidden pride shining in his eyes. Ye Tian sneered internally, thinking, as if your dad is all that impressive!
