Chapter 32. Free of charge
Ado and Lawrence trailed Shin all the way to his residence, noting every detail before heading back to report to their leader, Tony. Tony had just secured temporary lodging from the Bureau—a modest single room only a few blocks away from Shin's. Once the group was inside, they gathered around the dusty living room as they began planning their next move.
Ado exhaled sharply. "So... what's the plan?"
"There are two options," Lawrence said, voice low, leaning in conspiratorially. "One—grab the kid, drag him out of the safe zone, and end him. Quick and dirty. Two—play nice. Ingratiate ourselves, earn his trust, get him to step outside the safe zone on his own... then kill him."
Tony cracked his knuckles. "First option's faster. Let's hit him tonight."
Ado grinned. "The group leader has spoken!"
But Lawrence raised a cautionary finger. "Sure, it sounds quick. But have you actually seen that boy fight? I couldn't even read his thoughts back there, my memory reading skill was ineffective on him. That's not normal. And let's not forget how brutally he killed Gerald—like he was nothing! Then there's Elena. He killed her too, silent and clean, her head separated from her body. We're not dealing with some street punk here. That kid's a monster in disguise."
Tony and Ado exchanged uneasy glances. As much as they hated to admit it, Lawrence had a point. Gerald wasn't just skilled—he was elite, and his skill could make him invisible. No average brat could've killed him that simple.
Ado's lips curled into a sly smirk as he raised his hand like a smug student. "Alright, I vote for option two. I'll make the boy like me. I am irresistible, after all."
He licked his lips with dramatic flair.
"Ugh... spare us," Lawrence muttered with a grimace. "I'll pass on the drama. I'm no fighter, so I'll leave the charming and stabbing to you two. Now let me take a nap."
And with that, he collapsed onto a pile of blankets. Within seconds, his snoring echoed through the room.
