During all the time, you can say David is able to see a layer of dark aura surrounding that npc. Naturally, that layer of dark aura is the curse that restricts that NPC from moving.
'I just hope the npc did not get killed by the sun ray.'
David thought that, because there was a huge chance that even before he could break the curse, that npc would lose his health.
