Chapter 5: task 2 is complete
Kai exhaled sharply, gripping the icy blade in his hand. The cold steel shimmered under the dim training chamber's light, but he could already feel the instability within it. The moment he moved, cracks formed along its surface, and as he swung toward the nearest puppet, the blade shattered into fragments before it even connected.
"Tch." Kai clicked his tongue in frustration and leapt back as the puppets advanced.
[Warning: Frost weapon is unstable. Task 2 requires better energy control.]
He clenched his fist. "I get it! Just forming the weapon isn't enough—I need to make it solid, durable like a real weapon".
The puppets didn't wait for his realization. They lunged at him, their weapons slicing through the air with deadly precision. Kai dodged the first strike, narrowly avoiding a blade aimed at his shoulder. But the second came too fast—a wooden sword slammed into his side, sending him rolling across the ground.
Coughing, he forced himself up. He had barely adapted to his frost energy, and now the system demanded he shape it into a proper weapon within just twenty days. That meant only two days in real-world time. The pressure was immense.
Kai took a deep breath. "I need to refine my control."
Instead of summoning another weapon immediately, he focused on the energy within him. The frost coursed through his veins, but he realized he had only been commanding it externally, not integrating it properly into his combat movements.
If he couldn't shape his energy into a solid weapon yet, he needed to work on something else.
"Combat skills."
For the next several hours, Kai abandoned his attempts at weapon forging and focused on hand-to-hand combat. His movements were still stiff, his reactions slow, but every dodge, every strike, every fall sharpened his instincts. He studied the puppets' attack patterns, predicting their movements with increasing accuracy.
