Chapter 27: Arc 2, - 5: Campaign
They walked along the marble walls, "This place is made of shiny stone!" Asobi poked a pillar with her wand before Jotou pulled her along the corridor.
Upon the entrance was a fragrance of sea dandelions that fluttered the air. The helpdesk sat at the front and wings down the left and right that led to various workspaces.
They walked behind the desk; footsteps clacking against the floor, but theirs did not echo alone. Dozens of people, in suits and in a rush with papers and cases were going about their business.
"The mayor's office is-"
"Third floor, large carved doors with the image of a red serpent. The office overlooks the courtyard and in the distance the city centre," Hotaru spouted before the man guiding them could.
He turned his glance, walking up the steps, "You have been reading up on the building's infrastructure?"
Hotaru gave a light chuckle, ears drooping, "Actually, I used to work here from time to time. You probably never noticed me, me being just another lawyer down the wings," she flapped a hand in front of her face.
The man nodded in thought, passing by colleagues, "Hm... I would have noticed a woman with bright red hair and has skin as radiant as yours."
That radiant skin went as red as her hair, "You've only been the mayor's secretary for eight months, Mr Tenner... ha... I probably was in and out, different work schedules and all that," she gulped.
"Hey!" Fumeko waved her hand in front of Hotaru, grabbing her attention, "You used to work here and you decided to tell us some boring ass information about the building?" she spurned.
"In my defence, when I told you that 'boring ass' information, I said all lawyers under Kria's government come and go here; I technically worked in another building," Hotaru glared.
