Chapter 116: Aveline’s Help (1)
Charlotte spent almost an hour chatting with her friends in the group chat. In that long, yet somehow short, span of time, they shared life updates and gave each other support, like nothing had ever changed. For the first time in so long, Charlotte found herself smiling at her phone, laughing quietly at the screen like her heart had finally remembered what happiness felt like.
"So, Tessa’s engaged to her boyfriend," Charlotte said with a smile as she turned to Aveline. "I’m glad Leon finally decided to marry her."
"Ah ... Tessa isn’t with him anymore," Aveline replied casually. "She has a new boyfriend now. His name is Hans."
"Oh."
The smile on Charlotte’s face slowly faded as the realization hit her because she had missed out on so many important moments in her friends’ lives.
"I didn’t know that."
Noticing how Charlotte’s mood had shifted, Aveline tried to reassure her. "Hey, don’t be sad. It’s okay," she said kindly. "We have plenty of time to catch up. We’re still here and so are you, right?"
Charlotte let out a soft sigh of relief, slowly realizing that she was just starting a new Chapter in her life. Of course there would be things she needed to rewrite, piece by piece.
"You’re right," she said, smiling again. "I’m not going anywhere."
Charlotte closed the group chat and decided to talk with the others later. Right now, she wanted to focus on the person sitting in front of her.
