Emi stood, walking over with a casual grace. "It’s nice to finally meet you." She gestured toward the couch across from her. "Make yourself comfortable. Want some tea? Water? Or just a second to breathe?"
Emi noticed her nervousness, so she tried to help her feel more comfortable first.
Charlotte hesitated, then lowered herself onto the couch. Her hands found each other in her lap. "I think I’m good," she mumbled.
"Don’t be like that." Emi laughed softly, her voice as soothing as the room itself. "Come on, let’s start with some chamomile tea. It might help you relax."
"Okay, chamomile tea is fine," said Charlotte.
Despite knowing she was here for therapy, the space felt nothing like a sterile office. The place felt warm and comfortable, like visiting an old friend rather than sitting across from a professional.
The gentle hum of classical music floated through the air, blending with the subtle scent of tea and fresh greenery. Little by little, the tension in her shoulders loosened, and she finally let herself lean back in the couch.
"You know," Emi began, stirring the tea with a smile on her face, "I was genuinely surprised when Damon told me he had a mate. I always thought he’d be a lone wolf forever."
Charlotte let out a nervous chuckle, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "Has he really never been in a relationship before?"
